Wedding Feature: September at Waldenwoods

Yellow bridesmaid bouquets with garden-style florals at a Michigan wedding. Golden yellow bridesmaid bouquets for a late summer wedding

The last weekend of summer showed off in the best way possible for Shelby and Nick at Waldenwoods in Howell, Michigan. Tucked inside a quiet, wooded campground, working at this venue always feels like a hidden retreat. With clear skies overhead and a sparkly lake for the backdrop, it was one of those days that couldn’t be more perfect.

The color palette of the late summer florals brought warmth to the setting, layering sunny yellows, glowing ambers, and soft peach tones throughout the ceremony and reception spaces. These colors felt like a celebration of the turning of the season—golden and summery, but with a colorful step towards fall. Table decor was nature inspired through and through, the ceremony florals pulled double duty and could be all moved into the reception area, and the seating chart for cocktail hour was adorned in lush, garden inspired flowers. We used so many varieties of flowers for Shelby and Nick’s wedding; we cut so many gorgeous blooms from the farm in addition to what I ordered in. The more diverse a color palette a couple has (during the growing season), the more flower varieties we are able to cut from the field; making your bouquet more unique and one of a kind with each new season.

The incredible photos were taken by Allie Nicole, and I’m always so grateful to the photographers who share their work and highlight others so well.
